Week 1-The Definition of Love

Hello ladies! So this month is all about LOVE!!!

The dictionary's definition of love is, Love: An intense feeling of deep affection.

For this first week, I would simply like to know, first, do you agree with the dictionary definition of Love? Second, What is your personal definition of Love? What do you think it means to love?

  1. Wow...What is love? There are so many definitions for the word love. Of course I agree with the definitions in the dictionary, but the word love can be used loosely. When I say loosely I mean it being used as just an empty word, when there is so much more to the word love. Love has to be followed by actions. Anyone can say I love you, but how do you know if they truly do? Me personally think that love is a certain feeling someone has in their heart, that will never go away no matter what. I also feel that in order for you to love anyone, you have to love yourself first. Jennifer and I were talking about this earlier. Love is supposed to be unconditionally, but what is unconditionally?

  2. In agreeing with Mom, I too believe that LOVE is often used in an empty manner. We probably use more empty than we do unconditionally. "I love chocolate," or "I love going shopping," are just a few examples. Other times we say it, but are actions suggest otherwise. We would be in a lot of trouble of God "loved" like we do. So let me take a stab at my own definition: Love a feeling and action that encompasses the compassion, sacrifice and genuine care that one has for another. I can be far off, but I'm sticking with it!

  3. Love is filled with adjectives. Love is patient, love is kind, love keeps no record of wrong doing, as the bible describes love. I define love as a commitment, it's a contract. If I say I love you to someone, I'm not just saying it because it was said to me, I'm not just saying it because they might want to hear it. When I say it, what I am saying is that I have now entered into a commitment with you that regardless to what you do to me, I will always love you. Love isn't something you can turn off.I may not talk to you as a result of what you did, I may bad mouth you because of what you did, and the list goes on and on, but I can't not love you because of what you did because I have committed myself and my love to you.

  4. I personally think that love is an action and that it is best shown through action. I believe true love never goes away. It's hard for me to describe or define love, because I believe love is something shown through action. Anyone can say that they love you lady, but how many people can SHOW that's they love you?

  5. Hi Ladies,

Sorry it took so long to respond, but I literally took the week to think about this question. I think we all agree that love is an action. I will take it further to say that love is an involuntary action. Love cannot be controlled, that is, it is often something that you cannot put in some sort of category. It encompasses itself. Love is a verb. It REQUIRES action. Love is forgiving. Love is the act of patience. Love is the act of kindness. Love is the act of selflessnes and self at the same time. Love is the act of gratefulness. Love is the act of passion. Love is the act of sacrafice. Love is the act of discipline. Love is the act of protection. Love is the act of provision. Love is the act of all these aforementioned actions.
