Val, I think this is absolutely powerful. Realizing that a) God has to keep His promises b) He promised to never leave nor forsake us c) He promised that He will never put more on us than we can bare is certainly a combat against our negative thought when we, like you mentioned, believe in what we've been through. from this day forward I vow to myself to remember that God doesn't change and whenever I feel impacted in a negative way I'll simply remember everything He's brought me though.
